The University of Hawaii at Hilo was established in 1941 as Hawaii Vocational School. With 3,457 students, the University is located in a 115-acre main campus in Hilo, along with five other locations including Makai and Mauka. Thirty-three undergraduate programs, 5 graduate, and 2 doctoral degrees are offered through the colleges of Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management; Arts and Sciences; Business and Economics; Hawaiian Language; Continuing Education and Community Service; and Pharmacy. A variety of research programs and distance learning are also available.
