Southern Connecticut State University, located in New Haven, Connecticut, was founded as a teachers college in 1893. With more than 12,000 students, the University offers 116 graduate and undergraduate programs through the schools of Arts and Sciences; Business; Communication, Information, and Library Science; Education; and Health and Human Services. Outside the classroom, students at Southern Connecticut State University participate in 65 campus clubs, and a variety of athletics programs.

Nursing Education at Southern Connecticut State University

The Department of Nursing at Southern Connecticut University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing. The School admitted its first students in 1969, and now offers a traditional four-year BSN, an accelerated program for students with an undergraduate degree in another field, and an online RN to BSN program. MSN programs are available in three tracks: Nursing Education, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Clinical Nurse Leader. Nursing is the top selected major at Southern Connecticut University, with 850 students pursuing nursing programs.
