Founded in 1891 and located in Hickory, North Carolina, Lenoir-Rhyne University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a range of majors and specializations. Programs are administered through its four academic colleges: Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Services, Health Sciences, and Professional and Mathematical Studies. Students at Lenoir-Rhyne University are involved in almost 50 clubs and organizations including varisty and intramural sports, co-ed cheerleeding, fraternities and sororities, music, the performing arts, and religious clubs. Affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the University sits on a 100-acre campus and serves 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students.


Nursing Education at Lenoir-Rhyne University

Originally established in partnership with Grace Memorial Hospital, the Lenoir-Rhyne Grace Hospital School of Nursing opened in 1960. Today, the School of Nursing at Lenoir-Rhyne University offers a four-year BSN program and the Gateway Program, an RN to BSN option. Nursing students at Lenoir-Rhyne University receive a liberal arts foundation followed by nursing skills courses. In keeping with the University’s Christian mission, students are encouraged to incorporate a Christian approach to nursing care. Outside the classroom, nursing students are involved in a range of community service activities that include fundraising, flu vaccinations for the elderly, health screenings on campus, and involvement in a variety health promotion programs.
