Lees-McRae College, located in Banner Elk, North Carolina, was founded in 1900. A Presbyterian-affiliated institution with a liberal arts foundation, the College focuses on leadership and service. Lees-McRae College offers undergraduate programs through its School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Professional Studies. In addition to the traditional degree programs, the Extended Campus offers programs designed for non-traditional students with courses in Criminal Justice, Business, Elementary Education, and Nursing. Outside the classroom, students at Lees-McRae are involved in varsity and intramural sports, outdoor programs, campus ministry, and a variety of other programs and activities.

Nursing Education at Lees-McRae College

The RN to BSN program at Lees-McRae College is offered through the College’s Extended Campus. The program, offered on the Mayland Community College campus in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, is designed for adult learners. Courses include general education and nursing, and no pre-requisistes are required. Students with their ADN enter the RN to BSN program as juniors and complete the program in two years. In order to enable students to balance work, family, and other responsibilities, nursing classes at Lees-McRae are offered one evening a week.
