Howard University in Washington, DC, was founded in 1867 by the Civil War hero General Oliver O. Howard. With over 10,500 students, Howard University offers undergraduate and graduate programs through its 12 schools and colleges. Howard University is located on the main campus, while the School of Law, School of Divinity, School of Continuing Education, and Department of Atmospheric Physics are situated on other campuses in Washington, DC, or in Maryland. Students at Howard University participate in 19 varsity teams, a wide variety of student clubs and organizations, community service and volunteer activities.

Nursing Education at Howard University

The College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health Sciences at Howard University offers undegraduate and graduate degrees in nursing. BSN students can choose between four tracks: a basic BSN, an advanced placement track, an RN to BSN program, and an LPN to BSN option. The MSN program prepares students to be Family Nurse Practitioners. For students who already hold an MSN degree, a post-master’s certificate is available. The Division of Nursing at Howard University was established in 1969 and aims to address society’s diverse and complex health care needs.
