Barton College is located on a 65-acre campus in Wilson, North Carolina and serves 1,130 students. Barton offers programs in education, deaf education, nursing and social work. Atlantic Christian College was incorporated by the State of North Carolina in 1902 and changed its name to Barton College in 1990. In addition to offering 32 undergraduate majors, Barton is also home to the Weekend College, part of the Office of Lifelong Education and Extended Programs. The Weekend College provides courses to working adults over the age of 22.
Nursing Education at Barton College
Barton College offers a BSN and an RN to BSN program. Students gain clinical experience and cultural awareness in both rural and urban settings, international locations and various parts of the country. Internship opportunities are available in all types of nursing, including pediatrics, hospice, schools, surgical nursing, psychiatric care and epidemiology. Barton College sponsors Barton College Association of Nursing Students, College Association of Student Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and encourages students to join these professional and academic societies.
