The Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the demand for RNs will grow by 26 percent in the state over the next two decades. In spite of the demand, the median salary for RNs still lags behind the national average. Although the higher salaries tend to be in the Northwest region of the state, the highest earning RNs per metropolitan area are located in Elkhart, Goshen and Indianapolis. Becker's ASC Review regularly rates healthcare settings with regard to the quality of workplaces for employees. This distinguished list recently included Deaconess Health System based in Evansville and Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

Accredited LPN-to-RN programs in Indiana include:

Bethel College: The two-year traditional program in Mishawaka can be reduced by a year for qualifying LPNs. The program is full-time with some courses offered at Grace College in Winona Lake.

Ancilla College: Located in Donaldson, the college's bridge program takes less than two years to complete. Clinical rotations are usually performed at healthcare settings in the Plymouth, Rochester, Winimac and South Bend areas. The program is limited to 40 students.
